If you’re headed to your doctor’s appointment, take a minute during your chat with the doc to ask what he or she thinks of current health reform efforts. One of my doctors, foreign born, says America is rapidly becoming a nation of victims, lacking initiative. He says the American dream is still true: everywhere but America. Another doctor says physicians, already forced to take reduced payments from bankrupt Medicare, will simply stop taking as many Medicare patients.
One survey says as many as 45% of doctors will consider early retirement or getting out of medicine altogether if current plans pass. And the Obama Administration insists there won’t be rationing? Dramatically fewer doctors, millions of new patients: if you don’t think there will be rationing maybe you need to try some new meds.
